Great melody, groove, and solo by the Maestro Woody Shaw

Body and Soul

Check out this Legendary Detroit Jazz trumpeter in action! Listen to his masterful approach on this "super" standard ballad.

Ceora

Lee Morgan, trumpet

Gorgeous melody and chord changes combined with exceptionally sensitive playing. Superb!

Stompin' at the Savoy

Geoff Keezer, piano

Provided by Scott Gwinnell,

piano faculty

Fun, up-tempo, formless version of a tune that is normally a medium-swing Standard.

Bilongo

Eddie Palmieri, piano

Provided by Pat Prouty, bass faculty

This is a classic Latin Jazz track from band leader and pianist Eddie Palmieri.. Eddie is one of the innovators and architects of Latin Jazz.

Cherokee

Joel Frahm, tenor sax

Provided by James Hughes, woodwind faculty

I enjoy listening to interpretations of standards and these two do it with such fluidity. I particularly like the organic freedom they play with, the daring melodic, harmonic and rhythmic chances they take, their sensitivity to each other, and their connection to the tune and vocabulary throughout.

Perseverance

Brandon Woody, trumpet

Provided by Vincent Chandler, trombone faculty

Brandon Woody just celebrated his first release as a BLUE NOTE artist. Posting videos of this nature may have contributed to him being signed.

Shadow Dance

Dave Holland, bass

Provided by Chuck Newsome, guitar faculty

The whole concert is amazing and I just rediscovered it recently! It's a supergroup hit from 1990 at a festival in Germany.

Blue 7

Sonny Rollins, tenor sax

Provided by Jordan Schug, bass faculty

Great example of the blues, and Sonny's solo is wonderful
