Adult and High School Instrumental Jazz Workshop

The high school and adult instrumental jazz workshop blends fun and educational experiences designed to help students, on any jazz instrument and at any level, become better musicians in a short amount of time.

The workshop is organized into jazz classes, combo rehearsals, instrument sectionals, guest artist masterclasses, a listening room, and lunchtime jam sessions.

In June, workshop faculty offer class level placement guidance based on students’ registration responses and an online jazz theory quiz. These placements are recommendations only, and students may attend (and switch to) any class they choose. Combo placements are determined on the first morning of the workshop after faculty hear each student play. Instrument classes group students by instrument, all participants attend guest masterclasses, and students choose listening room sessions based on their interests in jazz styles.
