The Detroit Jazz Workshop goes through effective safety protocols to make sure to the best of its ability, that you or your student can study at the DJW, knowing that we are structuring a comfortable, safe environment.
We prioritize the safety, comfort, and accountability of every student, faculty member, and staff member.
All students, faculty, and staff receive a DJW lanyard that must be worn at all times while on campus.
Only registered DJW participants are permitted in our spaces.
Lanyards ensure that students, faculty, and mentors are easily identifiable.
The MSU–CMS building has one secured entrance, monitored by a security guard.
Only individuals on the DJW-approved access list are allowed to enter our floor.
Entry is electronically unlocked by the guard, ensuring controlled access at all times.
Students under the age of 18 must have written parental permission to leave campus during workshop hours.
All students are accounted for and supervised throughout the day.
A faculty member, staff member, or adult mentor is present in every rehearsal room and classroom during every class period.
If you develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19, please get tested as soon as possible.
Notify us of your absence, and do not attend the workshop until you receive your test results and are certain you are not contagious.
Masks can offer protection in close-quarters environments.
Per State of Michigan policy, masks cannot be mandated, so usage is left to each individual’s discretion.
